Cupcakes for (Bigger) Boys... (contd)

Boys... when they are a lot bigger they absolutely MUST choose an EPL team to support, and the popular choice will be any one of the big 4s .... MU, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool (ranked according to their current standings, before 03rdApril mind you)
But, if you don't have one yet (really?) do read this suggestion by an American, it's an old (2006) article, i find it so amusing, especially the part "I don't care who you pick, just don't pick Manchester United" LOL!
ESPN Simmons on EPL
This set was ordered by Naley for her bf. The numbers on the jersey must hold a special meaning for them, because I couldn't find the player names for number 3 and 7 (according to this season line-up), thus decided to remove all the names from the jersey images. Arrangement of the cupcakes is as requested by Naley, thanks for ordering....

And some (bigger) boys still find the time to go to school despite their busy work schedule and family commitments. This was ordered by Ann (thanks) for her hubby Paul, who recently completed his Masters degree. Congratulations!

Cakes & Cupcakes for Boys

Boys... when they're toddler, Sesame Street is usually one of their favorite shows.
Imran is sooooo super cute, ooohhh... that smile could just melt your heart..... wish i could pinch those chubby cheeks! The choice of Sesame Street image was from mommy herself, thanks Suheila.
Making this cake reminds me of how much my daughter Yna loves Elmo when she was three or four, I had to call up every Toys R US stores in KL trying to find one when they launched "Tickle Me Elmo". Well.... she's past that stage now,  otherwise we'd have to get her the new "Elmo Live"  :)

Boys... when they're preschoolers or in primary school, suddenly their favorite cartoons becomes gender biased. Every little boy I know just love Ben10 and Transformers. Thank you Asmawati.... harapnya ramai lagi anak sedara nak mintak cupcakes ada gambar :)
My son Syamil helped me with the selection of popular Autobots and Decepticons to put on those cuppies... Optimus Prime, BumbleBee, Sideswipe and Megatron. (three good robots against one villain, this isn't fair!)

And.... some boys just want to be the hero themselves! :D
Here's some of the edible images i edited.... Thanks Siti n Syalina

Cupcakes for the Guys

MU is probably doing better (after Cristiano left), since this is the 1st order for MU themed cupcakes I received this season. Maybe it's for celebration of them winning the Carling Cup recently. And the next match everyone's waiting for will be on 10th March against AC Milan at Old Trafford, Becks is Back !
Despite all the above excitement..... I'm happy that Chelsea still tops the Premier League table and I keep receiving hundreds of edible images for cupcakes with Chelsea's and Arsenal logos.... :-D

This is ordered by Cikgu Hunny for hubby, thank you...

From Jaja (tqvm...) to her fiance, design based on a few pics sent by Jaja, without any info about the originator.

From Jo for his family, no specified theme, his request was for something simply 'biasa' (regular). Thanks Jo, I probably forgot to pick up Yna from school if u didn't call  :)

Take us to the top, Arsene Wenger tells his Arsenal players | Arsenal - Times Online

Take us to the top, Arsene Wenger tells his Arsenal players | Arsenal - Times Online

We'll see this coming Wednesday... good luck Gunners! There's not much excitement with this season's EPL in our house, much of it I think because Asyraf (my nephew) is still confined to the bed after his spinal injury 5 months ago. Asyraf, my kids and hubby would put on their MU jersey and stayed up to watch MU matches whenever they could last season.

This order came on such short notice, I left it with my helper for the customer to pick-up; now I realized I didn't even get her name. Her request was for 10 Arsenal logo cupcakes, with the balance left for me to choose whatever flowery image I like. I must have had a short term craze for swirls and spent the whole evening looking for swirl designs and even put up an order for the AI templates from Kerawang.net ! (Actually, I do like their designs, they seem a lot softer with traditional malay flair)

Cupcakes For Four Kids

For Four, doesn't that sound like one of the chic SmartCar models.
These 2 sets were ordered by Yatie. One set of chocolate buttercake & chocolate moist cupcakes with her kids names; then I requested for their favorite cartoon characters to add on the cuppies. My promise to Yatie, if the Barbie & Snow White images turned out so hideous I wouldn't put it on cuppies. Another set was vanilla cupcake with fresh strawberry and cream.
When Yna saw the icing pieces made using color flow method, her reaction was "you're funny mommy". I was even more worried when my daughter Suehaila said, "sapa dia nih.....?" (who's that..) referring to those supposed to be Barbie pieces. Well... here are the actual images I was trying to copy, taken from Yna's bag, tumbler and stationery set.
I sent an obligatory sms to Yatie immediately after I delivered the cuppies (she didn't look at the cuppies earlier because the box of strawberry cuppies was on top of it) ; apologizing if Athirah wouldn't recognize her Barbies on the cupcakes. Reply from Yatie "... looks great; they are so happy :) " Thanks Yatie.

From Aunty Nana with Love

These cuppies were ordered by Sharina, or "achik nana" as she's fondly known by her family, for her little nephew Luqman Aliff.
She provided 4 pics for the edible images, and wanted the cuppies with just a little buttercream and colorful sprinkles. Luqman was cheering so happy when he saw the cupcakes, I could still hear him cheering even when the door was closed as I was walking back to the car. That is one of the many moments that makes baking so meaningful to me.
Thanks Sharina, congratulations on the arrival of your new nephew, another birthday to remember! (Chombi, her sis received their bundle of joy last week after 10 years of waiting.... )

Zufar & Barney Cake

Looking at Zufar's pic with his cute smile and dimpled cheek just makes you want to reach out and squeeeeze his little cheeks. This is 1.5kg moist choc & vanilla cake with choc fudge filling . The polka dots are in Barney, BJ, Baby Bop and Riff colors. Thanks for ordering, Atie.

P/S To those whom I have to decline your orders the past few weeks, please accept my sincere apology. Our family has to spend the past few weekends in Alor Setar GH visiting & discussing treatment for Asyraf's spinal injury due to a motorcycle accident. Asyraf is my hubby's nephew, age 23, just finished college, a paternal orphan since age 5. Spinal surgery (incl. bone graft, pedicle screws & rod fixation) has been scheduled for this week. Please pray for his speedy recovery.....

Perodua Cupcakes

Yatie ordered these cuppakes to surprise hubby on his birthday the very next day (thanks Yatie). Yatie wanted green and red buttercream; but I added plain/white buttercream for contrast and the pinky red above is the closest I could come up with before turning the buttercream bitter from too much coloring gel.
Cupcakes were delivered to a Perodua showroom nearby. Ha ha ha... I think even the staffs there could not recognize the models of these perodua cars icing transfers :D

Ben 10 Cupcakes

Cikgu Mira requested hand drawn images of Ben10 on only half of the cupcakes. This is my first attempt using buttercream to draw the outline. The advantages compared to using melted choc/candy is that the images are easily transferred onto the cupcakes; using melted choc always causes the images to crack and the bc flooding does not stick to the outline. But, with buttercream outline the images becomes easily smeared. Anyway, Syahmi was happy when he saw the cakes, that's what really matters. In keeping with yellow, brown & green plus B & W color theme, only Goop, AlienX, Humungosaur and Echoecho were drawn. Thank you Cikgu Mira for your order.

Happy 4th of July Birthdays

For everyone sharing the same birthday as my daughter Yna last Saturday, Happy 4th of July Birthday!
July 4th Sofea
I like how the blue background brighten the baby's picture (it is an image of Disney's princess castle actually, but does not quite visible after printed) . Design of the cake was given by mommy, thanks Farah!
July 4th Hoven
I was so glad that baby Hoven immediately recognized the small Barneys at the bottom when he saw these cuppies, thanks Carmen.

July 4th Shamacho
I couldn't refuse this order despite the 1-day notice because Sharina (the b'day guy's sis) was the 1st customer who ordered online about 5 months ago when I started this blog (thanks so much Sharina). Wanted to add more decor but kept thinking how my hubby just loves the choc fudge topping without addtl. decor, hope Shamacho liked it too.... (this young To' Penghulu's hobby is fishing) July 4th Yna1
This is for Yna's friends at kindy, she kept insisting that she wanted Power Puff Girls Z for the girls. (hmmm... another popular cartoon series which has suddenly 'grown' up recently) I added Disney/Barbie princesses etc. since I don't think her teachers would approve the anime image of Buttercup, Blossoms & Bubbles in their skimpy skirts.

And.... for the boys, Yna said just abc's for them... ha ha ha
July 4th Yna2

For My Nieces & Nephews

My sis and her family now lives in Tawau, Sabah. The kids are beginning to enjoy their life there but still miss a lot of what KL and Peninsular M'sia offers.
Each row of cupcakes is for each one of them, Playstation, LeSport Sac, Hannah Montana, Ben 10 and Upin&Ipin. I can hear their scream of joy over the phone when they received the cupcakes, hand carried by my sis for a duration of 6 hours from Penang to Tawau. The cake is a simple vanilla sponge cake with strawberry filling and choc fudge topping.
Sorry for the blurred pics, was in a hurry to te airport and didn't check the cam settings first.

Ben10 AF Cake

AF=Alien Force not Akademi Fantasia...

I don't even know that Ben is now 15 not the 10yr old boy anymore. Know this from Yna actually, she even briefed me about Kevin, Gwen and Grandpa Max, but haven't heard Yna mentioning Ben's gf Julie though. Hmmm... wonder how old will Ben be in the upcoming sequel, Ben 10: Evolutions, will it still be suitable for small kids below age 10 then?

The cake was ordered by Farra who bakes & sells lots of cheesecakes (besides working full-time, being a unit trusts consultant, and raising 2 soon to become 3 kids! Super Mama indeed); do visit her at http://smileycakes.blogspot.com/. Cake ordered was 1.5kg Chocolate cake with fudge topping, and both b'day boys' pics on the cake. Makcik Ana even include a fondant omnitrix for Mus'ab, fortified with powdered milk (nak jadi alien tak boleh la, nak tambah kalsium beberapa mg boleh la). I included Ben age 10 & his alien forms images, in case Mus'ab doesn't like the Ben age 15 version. Thanks Farra, really like your enthusiasm into whatever you do.

Upin & Ipin and Cars Theme Cupcakes

Watched an episode Upin and Ipin for the first time yesterday, thanks to http://upindanipin.com.my/. Actually, an order for Upin & Ipin theme cupcakes prompted me to check out this very popular locally produced animation.

My daughter Yna always says "boleh, boleh, boleh" and now I know where she picked up the phrase from. Yna has to stay longer at her 'tadika islam aliran inggeris' starting this week for her Bahasa Melayu remedial. Her cikgu is even more concerned than mommy & ayah about her going into Std One next year and 'tak reti cakap melayu'. Everyone who listen to her speaks bahasa melayu will always laugh because she sounded like Amelia Henderson in 'Kasut Tumit Tinggi' series on Astro. Yna actually learned to speak English by watching endless hours of disney & cartoon network on astro, and went to kindy starting at age 4. She's beginning to like Upin & Ipin and I surely hope it'll help her learn to speak Malay. I know many of my friends' kids have the same 'problem' from watching too much Disney channel tv, the ones who can afford it just send their kids to intl school; there's a new intl school in Kulim too.

Here's my first attempt at making Upin & Ipin using fondant flavored with peanut butter. I almost gave up and wanted to go for edible image instead. I really need the food color marker pens if I want to attempt at this again. I hope the birthday girl recognized my version of Upin, Ipin, Kak Ros, Mei Mei & Rajoo.

And for the birthday boy, car theme cupcakes. The road is chocolate bar flavored fondant.

Thanks cikgu N for this 2nd order..... I had so much fun making these cuppies.

Cupcakes for Boys

Received orders for birthday cupcakes for a little boy and a teen to keep me busy over the weekend. Boy, was I excited to stray from the flower theme for a while. As requested by the mom, cupcakes with red cars for her 1yr old; and from a dad a set of MU/soccer theme cupcakes for his son
The alphabets for the birthday boy's name were carried on choo choo train carts.

Hope I depicted the correct color of MU's home & away jersey for this season. The choc buttercream swirls came out flat due to high butter content and the hot afternoon, even turning the kitchen's air-cond full blast didn't help much.

P/S The MU fans in the house believed that I purposedly colored the jersey pink, as an insult for their recent loss to Liverpool. (Ha ha ha....., they keep dreaming on winning all 5 trophies this season, c'mon even Fergie starts doubting that it'll come true)
